Sales Engineer – High Voltage Electrical EquipmentEmployment Type:

We are seeking a highly motivated Sales Engineer to support and grow a Northern Illinois territory focused on high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical equipment. This role blends technical engineering knowledge with relationship-driven sales, working directly with utilities, engineering consultants, industrial end users, and OEM partners.
This is an opportunity to join a small, tight-knit team with excellent stability, zero micromanagement, and the ability to control your own schedule. The ideal candidate is an engineering-minded professional who enjoys customer interaction, problem-solving, and developing long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and grow a defined sales territory across Northern Illinois
- Build strong relationships with utilities, industrial clients, consultants, and OEM partners
- Conduct in-person customer visits, site assessments, and technical product presentations
- Provide application engineering support, product selection guidance, and troubleshooting assistance
- Develop proposals, quotes, and complete equipment solutions in collaboration with manufacturing partners
- Maintain accurate pipeline, CRM updates, and sales forecasting
- Prospect for new opportunities through calls, emails, referrals, and industry networking
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- 3–5+ years of experience working with medium- or high-voltage electrical equipment
- Experience working with or selling into utilities
- Strong technical communication skills and comfort working with other engineers
- Self-starter with strong time-management and organizational abilities
- Willingness to travel 2–3 days per week throughout Northern Illinois
- Microprocessor-based protective relays
- SCADA systems
- Ethernet-connected electrical devices
- Prior sales or customer-facing engineering experience
- Self-driven and entrepreneurial individuals

- $170,000 – $200,000+ total earnings potential (uncapped commissions; top performers exceed $300K)
