Position Overview
This position is accountable for obtaining accurate survey measurements for the purpose of preparing plans for roads, bridges, culverts, and land acquisition plats and plans. This position is responsible for reviewing complicated plats and plans, as well as legal descriptions. It also includes researching documentation needed for the acquisition of rights of way (ROW) for highway purposes.
Essential Functions- Ensures accurate preparation of plats and plans along with related documents in a timely manner to ensure there is no delay in project completions.
- Reviews all consultant plats and plans for accuracy and conformance with surveying principles.
- Ensures accurate collection of all required fields or right of way (ROW) survey data and reviews it in a timely manner.
- Assures that all work activities are completed with due consideration of department safety rules.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Current registration as a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois; OR Completion of a bachelor's degree in land surveying from an accredited college or university, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Surveying examination or Surveyor Intern license PLUS one year of experience in the practice of land surveying; OR Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related science including 24 semester hours of land surveying courses, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Surveying examination or Surveyor Intern license PLUS one year of experience in the practice of land surveying.
- Working knowledge of the principles/standards and practices of land surveying.
- Working knowledge of and usage of surveying equipment including GPS.
- Working knowledge of and ability to prepare/review ROW plats and plans also prepare/review legal descriptions.
