Insurance Accountant

Overview

• Research and document technical memos; present results to senior management
• Analyze complex accounting transactions and prepare consolidating entries
• Prepare and review corporate tax returns; assist with financial close process
• Review work papers and projects for accuracy and overall reasonableness
• Prepare forecasted financial statements and support external audits
• Lead initiatives to improve department workflows and eliminate inefficiencies
• Develop finance/accounting strategies with executive management
• Analyze software needs and document system requirements for upgrades and replacements

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4‑year college or university
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; CPA preferred
• 3–5 years of insurance and statutory accounting experience
• Knowledge of Sarbanes‑Oxley and internal control framework

• Expertise with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Independent project execution with high standards
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations; write business reports and procedures

Base pay range: $85,000 – $110,000 per year. Specific salaries are determined by skills, experience, and peer comparison.
