Maverick Search Partners is partnering with a leading distribution company to identify a Cost Accounting Manager who will drive financial health and operational efficiency through strategic cost accounting leadership.

This is a critical finance position focused on accurate cost accumulation, analysis, and reporting of product and inventory costs. You'll serve as a strategic business partner to supply chain, operations, and logistics teams, providing financial insights while ensuring compliance and identifying cost optimization opportunities. This role requires deep system expertise and a proactive approach to process improvement.

• Develop and maintain cost accounting policies in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls
• Accumulate and report product costs and variances, delivering actionable insights to support strategic decisions
• Prepare and maintain inventory costing models; conduct profitability and variance analysis (PPV, absorption)
• Direct cycle count programs, physical inventory counts, and reconciliation processes
• Serve as SAP subject matter expert and drive system/process improvements (will consider other ERP packages)
• Provide financial guidance to cross-functional teams and lead manufacturing budget preparation
• Support audits and develop training on costing policies and cost drivers

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus)
• 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in distribution, manufacturing, or similar environment
• In-depth understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and U.S. GAAP
• Proficiency in SAP (S/4
  
  HANA preferred) and Vistex (a plus)
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with large, complex data sets
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, agile environment
