Referral Specialist - Radiation Oncology
Location:
Schaumburg (
* Brand New Office Building*)
Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Office
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00pm

Under the direction of Radiation Oncology leadership, the Referral Specialist processes incoming calls and referral/authorization requests from patients and oncology physicians. The role supports quality healthcare delivery by obtaining medical records, verifying eligibility, determining benefit coverage, and resolving referral issues.
Responsibilities- Answer incoming calls and manage referral/authorization requests.
- Obtain and submit medical records, verify eligibility, and determine benefit coverage.
- Provide network steerage and resolve referral issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support electronic health record workflows.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and external partners.
- High School Diploma or GED required; college education preferred.
- Two years of patient/client-facing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Epic system preferred.
- Experience in ARIA or other record and verify platforms preferred.
- Experience working with physicians and clinical staff.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Proficient computer navigation skills and basic/advanced Microsoft Office/Outlook.
- Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and employment legislation.
- Experience with phone and work queues.
Pay range: $16.35-$24.52 per hour (adjusted for skills, experience, education, geographic location, and internal equity). Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives.
