Front Office Manager – Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, IL

Position Purpose

Oversee all front office operations to ensure profitability, control costs, maintain quality standards, and achieve total guest satisfaction. Supervise front desk staff and assist with guest check‑in/out, handling requests, complaints, and group check‑ins.

Essential Functions
  • Train front desk staff on hotel policies, practices and procedures.
  • Responsible for reservations, registration and special arrangements for groups.
  • Process daily and end‑of‑period reports; review guest ledger, advance deposit, open folios.
  • Process payroll.
  • Assist with performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and discharge.
  • Conduct shift briefings to communicate daily events, VIPs, current hotel offerings, updated policies, weekly training topics, occupancy, selling strategy, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of all hotel outlet offerings, facilities and local area events.
  • Account for daily yielding, balancing the house with room types/rates, correct settlement of room revenue and ensure credit is established on all accounts in accordance with proper accounting procedures.
  • Communicate hotel’s needs to appropriate departments to ensure room availability and open calls are being addressed in a timely manner with follow‑up to the guest that the issue is satisfactorily resolved.
  • Assist with implementation of new policies and procedures and ensure staff adherence to existing grooming and attendance policies.
  • Assist with the training process of new hires and identify training needs with existing employees through weekly focus on "topics of the week."
  • Drive hotel scores and share positive feedback and address any negative feedback on an individual basis.
  • Maintain a positive and professional environment in guest areas and in back‑of‑house that motivates and inspires staff.
