Our client is a growing and financially strong reinsurance organization looking to hire an AVP, Casualty Reinsurance Underwriting to help build and expand their casualty treaty capabilities.
Historically, the organization has been highly successful in shorter-tail property lines. As the company continues to grow its capital base and client relationships, it is strategically looking to diversify into medium- and longer-tail casualty business.
This represents a unique opportunity for an experienced casualty reinsurance professional to help build a casualty platform rather than simply inherit an established book. The individual will have significant input into underwriting strategy, appetite, guidelines, portfolio construction, pricing and overall market approach.
The company already has a strong base of insurance clients, many of which have established property relationships with the organization and purchase casualty reinsurance elsewhere. These relationships provide an immediate potential client base from which to develop the casualty portfolio.
Primary Areas of FocusThe initial casualty strategy is expected to concentrate primarily on traditional commercial casualty lines, including:
- General Liability
- Excess Liability
- Umbrella
- Workers' Compensation
- Other traditional commercial casualty exposures
- 6+ years of underwriting experience
- Preference of at least 3+ years of Casualty Treaty Reinsurance experience
- 3 days hybrid in Schaumburg office
