ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow standard instructions to measure or weigh polymers, carbon black, curatives, and other substances into the machinery.
  • Operate machinery that mixes and grinds raw materials to produce compounds.
  • Program Small Chemical Weigh Station for specific rubber compound recipes.
  • Transfer materials, supplies, or products between work areas, using moving equipment or hand carts.
  • Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, including hand tools (scoops).
  • Completes daily paperwork, neatly and accurately.
  • Report inconsistencies to Supervisor/Lead, or Manager.
  • Raw ingredient lot number control for all compounded ingredients.
  • Assist in cleaning all areas of the department and facilities.
  • Operate forklift as needed.
  • Perform monthly inventory on departmental raw ingredients.
  • Promote safety by:
  • Ensuring the housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained or improved to the highest level possible.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (hearing protection, dust mask, gloves) as required.
  • Ensures Quality products and processes are maintained by:
  • Understanding and supporting both quality policies and the Quality System.
  • Performing work at a level that ensures quality of this position’s work meets or exceeds internal specifications.
  • Identifying and correcting, if possible, any identified quality issues in the department.
  • Participating in system or quality‑based training provided by the company or recommended by the company.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. *

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; or at least 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of procedural techniques or processes is essential. Ability to input data into operational computer systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

OSHA approved forklift certification.

Scissor/Platform Lift Training/certification

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to vibration; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; and wet or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
