* ** Position Summary** :
The Secretary /Receptionist is responsible for coordinating the efficient flow patients and visitors. The Secretary/Receptionist greets all outpatients and visitors and informs other staff of arrivals, answers and relays all incoming telephone calls, and maintains staff and patient schedules. Other tasks include, but are not limited to, general reception and clerical duties such as preparing patient charts for visits, requesting and retrieving patient records, filing, and typing correspondence and reports.
The Secretary/Receptionist is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all personal and clinical information of the patients served.
** Education Requirements** :
High school graduate or equivalent required.
** Experience Requirements** :
1. Computer word processing skills - minimum of 55wpm required.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
3. Previous medical office reception or clerical experience preferred.
** Principal Responsibilities:*
* 1. Reception:
a. Effectively schedules patient consultations, follow up visits, and simulations and collects the necessary information for the
appointment.
b.
Schedules imaging studies and other outside appointments for patients as requested.
c.
Greets all patients and visitors in a courteous and respectful manner.
d.
Readily requests assistance or ancillary equipment to assistance with patient ambulation needs.
e.
Operate telephone and department P.A. systems in an effective and courteous manner.
f.
Accurately maintains staff, location, and meeting schedules.
g. Promptly informs other staff of patient or visitor arrivals in the appropriate manner. Obtains prior insurance authorizations for imaging studies, procedures.
2. General duties.
a. Requests accurate and complete registration information for all patients.
b. Maintain accurate and complete daily business records and logs.
c. Promptly send and receive faxes, copy and send patient records to outside sources; sort, distribute and send mail daily.
d. Maintains adequate level of supplies and a clean and orderly work area
e. Performs the transcriptionist registration and secretarial duties and assists with special projects as needed
f. Cross covers for registration; inputs daily billing.
For cross-coverage purposes only:
g. Promptly requests and obtains patient records. Accurately and promptly file incoming patient records Prepares for daily business by having patient charts pulled, x-ray files available, and schedules distributed.

3. Word processing duties.
a. Accurately and promptly word-processes inter/intradepartmental correspondence and patient correspondence as requested.
b. Accurately and promptly word processes CQI reports and minutes in a timely manner.
c. Creates forms for reports or data collection and promptly assists with other projects.
Pay Range - $17.25- $22.99
_Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location."_
