Overview

John Ferguson Interiors is seeking a full‑time Senior Interior Designer to join our growing New York‑based studio. This leadership role is for an exceptional designer with outstanding creative vision, technical expertise, and project management skills. Working closely with the Principal, you'll lead high‑end residential projects from concept through installation, collaborating with clients, architects, contractors, artisans, and consultants to create thoughtfully designed, highly personalized homes.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment and wants to play a meaningful role in the growth of an ambitious boutique design studio.

Design Leadership
  • Lead high‑end residential projects from concept through installation.
  • Develop furniture plans, finish palettes, lighting plans, custom millwork, and decorative schemes.
  • Source furniture, lighting, textiles, antiques, art, and accessories.
  • Prepare and present design concepts and client presentations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Principal to maintain the studio’s design vision and standards.
Project Management
  • Manage multiple residential projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and fabricators throughout each project.
  • Prepare and oversee construction documentation and drawing sets.
  • Review shop drawings, finish samples, and custom fabrication details.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure design intent is executed.
  • Develop project schedules and monitor budgets.
  • Work closely with the Procurement & Operations Manager to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Studio Leadership
  • Mentor and support junior designers.
  • Maintain studio standards for drawings, presentations, specifications, and project organization.
  • Help refine studio systems and design processes.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and detail‑oriented studio culture.
