Union Statistics Position

At Union, institutional expectations and support are balanced between teaching and research; candidates should demonstrate excellence in both areas. The position is open to candidates who will have a Ph.D. in statistics by September 2027, who have strong teaching credentials in undergraduate statistics, and have a record of scholarly achievement that suggests a continuing commitment to scholarship in any sub-fields within statistics.

This position will play a key role in our growing Statistics, Data Analytics, and Financial & Actuarial Mathematics programs. Union currently has established minors in these three programs. The long-term goal is to grow these programs to majors. While a strong theoretical background in statistics is required, candidates who also have practical experience in addressing real problems with statistics, and who can teach practical statistical thinking and analysis of data for a specific purpose and within a specific context, are particularly desired.

The teaching load is two courses per trimester with one course release during the first year.

The successful hire will develop courses in their area of expertise that may contribute to other programs at Union, especially the interdisciplinary programs in Data Analytics and Financial & Actuarial Mathematics.
