At HDR, our employee‑owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected. We foster a culture of inclusion throughout the company and our communities, continually asking how we can make a positive impact on the world. Each role helps change the world for the better. We believe architecture is more than designing buildings;
it’s about providing solutions to societal challenges and creating stronger communities. Our architecture practice delivers spaces that advance community well‑being around the world—from healing environments and learning spaces to research labs and civic landmarks and infrastructure. We bring together architects, planners, designers, and technical experts to solve complex design challenges with creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. From championing design excellence with resilience and sustainability to pioneering innovative building technologies, our work leaves a lasting impact on the built environment.
This isn’t just a job; it’s a chance to drive meaningful change and help define the future of our communities.
Our clients live on the leading edge of education, science and advanced technology. We, the lab planners at HDR, consider ourselves lucky to work with them every day. We come from diverse backgrounds of architects, educators and scientists. We have no single formula for our path, but we all share a deep interest in what our clients do and a passion for problem‑solving.
Lab planners serve as the conduit between end‑users and the rest of the design team, translating design vision to scientists and science to designers. Collaboration energizes us.
We are proud to collaborate with some of the most advanced institutions and facilities worldwide. We are honored to currently partner with 140+ academic institutions, 30+ top‑50 U.S. News & World Report universities and 60+ R1 doctoral universities. Our work spans life science, physical science, nanoscience, engineering and education facilities. If a client has a unique facility, HDR is often called upon to think strategically about their unique problems, rather than just applying past experience.
We invest significant time reimagining the future of research and education and the impact on our clients and projects. Our passion pays off—
