Structural Engineer

Spectra Tech Inc. is hiring for a Structural Engineer in Niskayuna, NY.

Work within a project team environment to support construction projects at the Knolls Site. The selected candidate will support project development efforts from concept through construction, collaborating with internal stakeholders, facility staff, contractors, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities include developing project scope, supporting design activities, and providing engineering support throughout project execution.

• Develop and define project scope with project sponsors
• Work with project teams to develop:
  • Specifications
  • Cost estimates
  • Drawing reviews
• Provide engineering support during construction phases for:
  • Buildings
  • Utility projects
• Oversee architectural engineering firms in the development of:
  • Concept designs
  • Construction documents
  • Cost estimates
• Coordinate and interact with:
  • Facility staff
  • Contractors
  • Project stakeholders
• Support construction administration activities, including:
  • Submittal reviews
  • RFIs
  • Construction inspections

• Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering with 5+ years of experience
• Experience performing structural engineering activities including:
  • Development of contract documents
  • Structural calculations
  • Cost estimates
• Working knowledge of:
  • Building codes
  • Applicable engineering standards
• Experience supporting construction administration activities
• Ability to successfully obtain a L-Clearance Required

• EIT Certificate and/or Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Engineering consulting experience
