Controls Engineer

GE Vernova is seeking a Controls Research Engineer to join our R&D team advancing next generation control algorithms for low carbon power, grid, and renewable systems. You will model complex energy assets, design and simulate advanced control strategies (model predictive, adaptive, and robust control), and validate them via hardware in the loop and lab testing. Collaborating with cross functional engineering teams, you'll translate research into deployable solutions, publish and patent innovations, and support field trials-driving safer, more reliable, and more sustainable energy systems worldwide in a mission driven, collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and analyze advanced control algorithms for power, grid, and renewable systems
• Develop and validate dynamic models of energy assets (turbines, converters, storage, grid equipment)
• Perform hardware-in-the-loop, lab, and field validation of new control concepts
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product, and field teams to transition research into products
• Document results, publish technical papers, and support patent filings
• Contribute to safety, reliability, and performance assessments of new control strategies
• Support integration of control solutions into digital and grid software platforms
• Participate in continuous improvement of R&D methods, tools, and processes
