Job Summary

Responsible for new business development and relationship management targeted to middle‑market companies with sales of $50million or greater within Manhattan, The Bronx & Westchester area. Generate revenue by developing and maintaining relationships with identified companies, developers and managers, generating deal flow directly from clients/prospects and orchestrating a team approach to the relationship. The position is supported by product specialists, portfolio managers and operational support specialists but remains accountable for all aspects of the relationship.

Responsibilities
  • New Business Origination:
    Develop and maintain relationships to generate direct deal flow; coordinate the team approach to approving and closing new deals to grow assets and revenues while optimizing profitability (ROE).
  • Relationship Management:
    Work with assigned portfolio managers to engage borrowers on idea generation and relevant opportunities to expand the relationship, including new client generation, loan production and fee income from cross‑sell products.
  • Credit Quality:
    Proactively monitor credit quality of the portfolio through timely financial statement gathering, monitoring client compliance with ongoing reporting requirements, analyzing financial information, and recommending or taking corrective actions based on acceptable levels; ultimately responsible for managing the bank’s risk exposure to acceptable levels.
  • Maintaining Knowledge:
    Stay abreast of industry trends and market conditions that could impact the Corporate and Regional Commercial Banking group and the assigned portfolio of relationships and borrowers.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma/GED/Foreign Equivalent required;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of commercial financing or equivalent lending experience.
  • Established relationships and a demonstrated direct origination track record with relevant companies.
  • Expertise in negotiating, structuring, and closing complex loans.
  • Proven ability to generate significant cross‑sell revenues.
  • Strong analytical and credit skills.
  • High level of oral and written interpersonal and sales skills.
  • Expertise in due diligence, credit underwriting, and legal documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment.
  • Cross‑sell banking services including treasury management, interest rate protection, and syndication products; experience with foreign exchange & commodity hedging a plus.
  • Recognizes issues; early problem recognition, remedial management, and appropriate coordination with workout.
  • Keeps management fully informed on all key factors of the bank, portfolio, client relationships, and competitive environment.
  • Active participation in industry‑related associations, committees, or boards outside of the bank that provide marketing and community services.
  • Adheres to all regulatory and compliance issues linked to the job and team.
  • Consistently follows regulatory and compliance policies and standards; no intentional or willful non‑compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Completes all required compliance training on a timely basis.
  • Maintains knowledge of and adheres to Flagstar’s internal compliance policies and procedures.
  • Stays up to date with changing regulations and policies.
