Remote (U.S.
-based only)
East Coast hours required;
Buffalo, NY candidates preferred but not required.
Contract Type: W2 (NO C2C or Sponsorship)
Overview:
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with a strong understanding of API governance, program management, and experience working at the intersection of business and technology. This is a highly strategic and autonomous role supporting the Engineering Excellence team, with a focus on building out cross-cutting engineering programs, including open source tooling and enterprise API governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary liaison between architecture, security, product teams, and business stakeholders.
- Support the design and evolution of API governance frameworks and processes.
- Partner with change management teams to build forms and workflows that capture essential API metadata (data classification, consumers, internal/external access, etc.).
- Conduct extensive research and investigation across internal teams and industry standards to inform governance practices.
- Develop and document repeatable processes that are clearly understood by both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead or assist in the creation of materials (e.g., Tech Talk slide decks, visual workflows) to educate and align stakeholders.
- Provide program-level tracking and support across 3–4 key initiatives simultaneously.
- Contribute to the build-out of a newly formed Open Source Office, including frameworks for responsible usage and contribution.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role, especially in roles requiring both business and technical fluency.
- Strong understanding of APIs (REST, SOAP, metadata) and ideally API governance frameworks.
- Experience working across technology and business domains in highly matrixed environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work self-managed, proactively pushing work forward with minimal oversight.
- Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and visual—with the ability to tailor messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable managing multiple work streams and collaborating asynchronously across teams.
- Research-focused mindset—able to identify the right stakeholders and industry standards without prescriptive direction.
- Strong documentation and presentation development skills (e.g., slide decks, process maps).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous banking or regulatory industry experience (e.g., Capital One, JPMorgan Chase).
- Experience with highly regulated industries such as healthcare if not financial services.
- Familiarity with tools and processes related to Open Source Office initiatives.
- Program-level experience—comfortable with program tracking, strategy alignment, and multi-stream planning.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with engineering excellence frameworks, or open-source contribution strategies.
- Background working with Scrum teams or in agile environments (although this is not a Scrum Master role).
Work Structure:
- This role reports directly to the Engineering Excellence lead.
- Regular weekly check-ins; otherwise, a self-directed and high-trust work environment.
- Communication expectations include regular updates and openness to feedback or iteration as the program evolves.
