Description

Reporting to the VP of Development Operations, the Director of Individual Giving will serve as an integral member of the organization, overseeing, growing and prioritizing the middle tier campaign ($10,000-$99,999) to maximize the pipeline to major gifts. The Director of Individual Giving will be responsible for the strategy, execution, and growth of a comprehensive individual middle-tier giving program, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding potential and existing donors.

The Director of Individual Giving will establish and implement systems and strategies to increase donor participation and revenue across middle-tier gifts and the development of innovative middle-tier strategies. The ideal candidate is opportunistic, entrepreneurial, and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The candidate ideally will have experience building or scaling a “best practice” individual giving program. Key priorities include portfolio management, increasing relationship-based increases, renewals and donor retention, identifying and growing the pipeline of major donors, and ensuring a strong onramp from upper lower-tier donor base into middle tier giving in partnership with JED’s community campaign partners.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the donor continuum and will partner closely with the Senior Director of Community Giving to upgrade broad-base donors into mid-tier and upgrading middle-level prospects to major in partnership with Philanthropy Officers. The Director of Individual Giving will support a comprehensive stewardship strategy - including select cultivation events nationwide - ensuring a high-quality donor journey and will join a passionate, hard-working, collaborative, respectful, and flexible Development Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and execute a comprehensive, strategic mid-level fundraising plan focused on individual donors.
  • Oversee all individual giving activities for upgrading donors to $10,000-$99,999 ensuring alignment with overall development strategy.
  • Develop and test new strategies for middle-tier giving, including opportunities for CSR and cross-functional integrations.
  • Launch giving society program in partnership with Philanthropy officers.
  • Ensure alignment with donor engagement, stewardship, and experience strategies.
  • Maintain a personal portfolio and identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual gifts.
  • Collaborate with prospect development colleagues to review wealth analytics, prospect research, and donor data to implement strategic next steps.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • BA or BS degree or Equivalent Experience.
  • Seven+ years of fundraising experience, with a strong focus on individual giving.
  • Proven ability to develop strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
  • Demonstrated success upgrading individual donors under $10,000.
  • Track record of achieving or exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Strong operational and analytical skills, with the ability to design and implement scalable systems.
  • Successful experience building or growing mid-level programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work independently while managing deadlines and priorities.
  • Demonstrated organization, attention to detail, flexibility, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to persuasively articulate JED’s mission.
  • Strong ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive donor matters.
  • Comfort with JED’s subject matter and passion for the mission.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Wealth Analytics Software and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • US Travel up to 25%.
