Position: Executive Assistant to the President & Executive Director

The Kiona Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to transforming the future of healthcare by researching novel, plant-based treatment options and supporting families navigating the challenges of cancer. Named in honor of a beloved child lost to brain cancer, our work is rooted in compassion, advocacy, and innovation. We support pioneering clinical research, offer educational programs on natural health and the endocannabinoid system, and provide vital resources to families facing housing insecurity during medical treatment.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission, helping us bring hope, healing, and change to those who need it most.

Overview

The Executive Assistant to President & ED plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Kiona Foundation. This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking work in pediatric cancer research, family support, and community engagement. Volunteers in this role will work closely with a passionate and committed team to advance the Foundation’s strategic priorities.

Time Commitment

Expected commitment is 10-15 hrs/week, with flexibility based on availability and project needs. This is a remote volunteer position unless otherwise specified.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage high-level calendars, schedule stakeholder meetings, and maintain confidentiality in executive communications.
  • Prepare meeting briefs, transcribe minutes, and coordinate follow-up action items across teams.
  • Assist with correspondence related to media requests, philanthropic outreach, and academic partnerships.
  • Liaise with legal, clinical, and donor support teams to ensure leadership is prepared for key decision-making.
