Cash Application Specialist
San Antonio / Schertz, TX
Robert Half is partnering with a reputable organization in the San Antonio/Schertz area to hire a detail-driven Cash Application Specialist. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who excels at payment processing, reconciliation, and maintaining accurate financial records in a fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for accurately posting payments, maintaining accounts receivable records, and supporting reconciliation and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and accurately apply customer payments (ACH, wire, lockbox, credit card, and checks)
- Maintain and update accounts receivable records and transaction logs
- Assist with monthly accounts receivable reconciliations
- Generate billing entries to recoup shared expenses
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies (short pays, deductions, pricing/quantity issues)
- Reconcile customer and supplier statements
- Ensure timely and accurate application of daily cash and credits
- Communicate with internal departments and external partners to resolve issues
- Track and maintain department KPIs and reporting metrics
- Maintain accurate AR documentation and filing systems
- Support team initiatives and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, cash applications, or accounts receivable
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-up
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Comfortable handling large volumes of transactions with accuracy
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Systems & Software Experience
- ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards (JDE), or Microsoft Dynamics
- Cash application and payment platforms such as High Radius, Black Line, or Billtrust
- Banking and payment tools such as Lockbox systems, ACH/Wire processing, Cash Pro (Bank of America), or Wells Fargo CEO
- Reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Excel-based dashboards
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data reconciliation)
