The Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding, inspiring, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The Teacher is immediately responsible to the principal for the carrying out of school policies and the Archdiocese of San Antonio’s policies relating to the classroom, students, and parents.
Position Responsibilities- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well‑being of self and others.
- Protects the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in service with the organization, including client names, services rendered, donor names and gifts, investigations, and financial information.
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy as mandatory.
- Approaches interactions and undertakings with a solution‑oriented mindset, collaborating as a team member that promotes the Mission and Vision of the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the school's curriculum requirements and provides written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepares lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
- Presents subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Department of Catholic Schools, and administrative regulations.
- Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, materials, and equipment that reflect the learning styles and needs of students.
- Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses results to plan instructional activities.
- Works with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per DCS requirements.
- Plans and supervises assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
- Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsors outside activities approved by the principal.
- Is a positive role model for students and supports the mission of Catholic education.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities with necessary precautions.
- Assists in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials as required.
- Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participates in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
- Stays informed of and complies with Department of Catholic School regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and required documents.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
