Brief Description

The purpose of this position is to prevent crime and enforce state and local laws. This is accomplished by performing patrol duties; responding to emergency calls and routine complaints; performing traffic enforcement; conducting traffic investigations; and performing related administrative duties. Other duties include testifying in court and serving in plain clothes/undercover operations.

Essential Functions
  • Patrol assigned areas to maintain a visible police presence; search for suspicious, hazardous, or criminal activity; conduct field interviews of suspected offenders; and make arrests.
  • Respond to emergency calls and routine complaints by receiving and responding to dispatch calls, responding to crimes in progress, and assisting Fire and EMS personnel during emergency situations.
  • Perform traffic enforcement duties by monitoring vehicle speed, registration, defective equipment, and compliance with traffic laws; issue citations and warnings; and document traffic enforcement statistics.
  • Perform administrative duties by completing case reports, paperwork, and related documentation; review reports for accuracy and completeness; and prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Conduct traffic accident investigations by investigating collision scenes, obtaining statements from involved parties and witnesses, directing or controlling traffic as necessary, and completing and filing accident reports.
Minimum Qualifications Include
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Peace Officer License from TCOLE or candidates in the final phase of the Police Officer Academy.
  • Must have valid Texas Driver's License.

Applicants are subject to pre‑employment screening/testing, including but not limited to thorough background investigations, psychological, physical, and drug testing. Candidates must be willing to work 12‑hour shifts, including holidays.
