The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic is responsible for providing basic clinical care commensurate with his or her medical education to patients. Duties include performing initial clinical evaluations, vital signs, assisting with procedures for emergency care as directed by the registered nurse (RN). Provide excellent customer satisfaction.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS and ACLS Certification
- Minimum of 1-year experience in urgent care or emergency department; EMTs and Paramedics must have at least 2 years ambulance experience or 1-year emergency department experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant preferred
- Current state licensure for EMT or Paramedic
- Able to work in a fast-paced emergency department
- Provide excellent customer service
- Show courtesy and respect to all staff members
- Perform laboratory point-of-care testing, all CUA-waved testing, and lab controls as needed
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, and radiology staff; participate in staff meetings
- Follow daily lab and equipment checks for quality assurance
- Make follow-up phone calls as assigned by the RN
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe working environment in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory standards
- Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning
- Assist with patient check-in as needed
- Ensure patient confidentiality and accurate documentation in the patient chart
- Assist with supply management and ordering as directed by the facility manager
- Perform clinical duties as trained and assigned by the RN
- Use company email as the primary communication method
- Maintain examination rooms and ensure they are stocked properly
- Be proficient with practice management and electronic medical records
- Comply with federal regulations including HIPAA, CMS, and CUA
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment
- Work efficiently within a team environment
- Assist with patient transfers
- Communicate professionally and promptly with patients
- Willing to work weekends and holidays
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work in a fast-paced emergency room setting
- Lift and move patients using proper body mechanics; assist staff as needed
- Stand, walk, and sit frequently; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Submit to random drug screenings
