Position Summary
The Stainless Steel TIG Welder is responsible for producing high-quality welds on stainless steel piping systems in a controlled fabrication shop environment. The role requires precision, consistency, and the ability to meet production goals while maintaining strict quality standards for mechanical piping systems.
Responsibilities- Perform GTAW (TIG) welding on stainless steel pipe (primarily Sch 10 / Sch 40)
- Maintain proper argon purge techniques to prevent sugaring/oxidation
- Operate positioners / rotators for roll welding
- Produce welds that meet:
- Visual inspection standards
- X‑ray / RT quality (when required)
- Follow WPS/PQR procedures
- Certified Journeyman‑level welder (or ability to obtain prior to hire)
- Position covered by a local union collective bargaining agreement (CBA)
- Union membership in good standing required upon hire (non‑members encouraged to apply)
- Experience with orbital welding is a plus
- Demonstrated experience with GTAW (TIG) welding on stainless steel piping systems
- Ability to consistently produce high-quality welds meeting visual and radiographic standards
- Strong understanding of welding procedures, including WPS/PQR requirements
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a fabrication shop environment
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
