Overview

This role supports a safe work environment by conducting inspections, documenting incidents, and coordinating safety programs and training.

Responsibilities
  • Tours and inspects smaller, less-complex job sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Reports concerns to safety management.
  • Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system.
  • Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas and procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues.
  • Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe.
  • Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs. Reviews daily job hazard logs and takes action as required.
  • Provides emergency response to employees as needed. Documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Serves as a mentor to less-experienced Safety employees.
  • Assists with development of training materials and coordinates and facilitates employee training as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline, or equivalent education, training and/or experience
  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • CPR and First Aid, OSHA 500/CHST/ASP certification preferred
  • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred

    Skills and Abilities

    (KSAs):
    List no more than six essential KSAs, including system-relevant technical skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid problem solving skills
  • Solid customer service and organizational skills
  • Solid computer skills - experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet
  • Solid knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures
