Position: 129 RETAIL - FT FRONT END ASSOCIATE 1 (78697)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor; use the Guest Services script based on the division served.
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner and lookup products as needed to access UPC codes or prices.
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
  • Use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment properly.
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add‑on items, including the charity of the month.
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers so accurate amounts are charged to the guest.
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
  • Ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction; never answer these questions for the guest.
  • If necessary, check acceptable identification, use 36 sign‑in, to ensure a legal sale.
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
  • Issue receipts and any change due.
  • Accurately count change back to the guest.
  • Bag or box merchandise appropriately, using double bags only when requested for multiple bottle orders.
  • Assist with carry‑outs when needed and feasible.
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on a daily record sheet.
  • Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached to maintain proper till balance.
  • Keep work area clean and neat; do not overstock the counter with merchandise.
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests.
  • Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Avoid use of personal cell phones while on the sales floor.
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
  • Monitor checkout station, ensuring all needed tools such as register paper and paper bags are in stock.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Stand for most of the shift, bend and walk occasionally; use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally; push/pull 50–100 pounds or more occasionally. Use proper lifting techniques and tools.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
  • Attendance and timeliness are required. It is hard to run the register from home.
  • Qualifications
    • Education:

      High school diploma or GED preferred; cashiering experience preferred.
    • Language:
      Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions; bilingual skills a plus.
    • Mathematical:
      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate discounts and percentages.
    • Experience:

      Cashiering experience preferred; willing to learn new skills.
    • Physical Requirements:

      Stand, walk, bend; lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; push/pull up to 50–100 pounds occasionally; proper lifting techniques required.
    • Certification:
      Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit required;
      Food Handlers Permit accepted in some cases.
    • Age:
      Must be over the age of 21 as required by state law.
    • Demeanor:
      Friendly, outgoing, self‑starter, strong work ethic; patient and helpful to guests and coworkers.
    Hours and Work Schedule

    Full‑time:
    Typically 35 hours per week. Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and available 80% or more of all shifts each week.

    Part‑time:
    Up to 25 hours per week. Shift flexibility based on business needs. Working outside scheduled time requires District Manager approval.
