Position: Journeyman Lineman (DOL Certified)

KGI Wireless is growing and looking for a skilled Journeyman Lineman to join our team. This position is responsible for the construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, switching, restoration, and repair of overhead and underground electric distribution systems while maintaining the highest level of safety, operational excellence, and customer service. The Journeyman Lineman will support system reliability initiatives, emergency restoration eZorts, grid modernization projects, and utility construction activities in accordance with KGI client standards and industry best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair overhead and underground electric distribution systems
  • Perform energized work in accordance with company and client safety policies
  • Perform switching operations on electric distribution systems while maintaining operational safety and reliability
  • Install and maintain transformers, reclosers, Trip Savers, regulators, capacitors, sectionalizing equipment, and associated distribution equipment
  • Perform pole changeouts, framing, conductor installation, and service work
  • Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, backyard machines, and other utility equipment
  • Support outage restoration eZorts during emergency and storm events
  • Support apprentices and groundman with technical development and jobsite execution
  • Conduct job briefings, hazard assessments, and tailboards prior to beginning work activities
  • Maintain client construction standards and specifications
  • Ensure proper care and inspection of tools, PPE, vehicles, and utility equipment
  • Respond to after-hours outages, emergency call outs, and mutual aid assignments as needed
  • Maintain professionalism and integrity while representing KGI and its clients
  • Support a safe work environment and participate in monthly safety meetings and training activities
  • Operate company vehicles in accordance with Federal, State, local, and company policies
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, and storm environments
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
  • Climb poles and work from elevated positions and aerial devices
  • Travel within the South-Central Texas region as needed
  • Be available for storm restoration and emergency response call outs
  • Utilize required PPE and safety equipment at all times
  • Successfully complete annual hurt man rescue and safety compliance training
  • Work extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Department of Labor (DOL) approved Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program. DOL Journeyman Lineman Certification required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3+ years of electric utility distribution experience
  • Valid Texas Class A CDL required
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment
  • Ability to perform energized line work and operate utility equipment safely
  • Ability to read and interpret utility construction standards and switching procedures
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background screening, and fit-for-duty requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Utility, municipal, or cooperative distribution experience
  • Experience with grid modernization and distribution automation equipment
  • Underground troubleshooting and fault locating experience
  • Previous storm restoration and mutual aid experience
  • Experience mentoring apprentices and groundman
  • Strong commitment to safety culture and operational excellence
