Set-up operators for secondary operations are responsible for loading, installing, aligning, diagnosing, adjusting, operating, and dismantling (re-setting) rivet, hardware insertion (staking), tapping, and welding machines according to work instructions and specific set-up specifications.
Responsibilities
- Clean, assemble, install, and align tools, fixtures, and dies in equipment as per instructions. Verify the accuracy and safety of all set-ups and auxiliary equipment.
- Set up machines and stage subcomponents for operations.
- Fill and verify lubrication systems against specifications.
- Assist with set-up changes as needed.
- Monitor machine operation, perform dimensional inspections, and support operators. Provide training as necessary.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, assist maintenance and quality personnel.
- Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance. Detect malfunctions through unusual sounds and discuss issues with supervisors or maintenance.
- Conduct first-piece evaluation before submission to QA.
- Accurately report setup and labor data for records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the department.
- Create and document setup instructions for new or revised processes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Participate in readiness audits and verify documentation and tooling status.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of maintenance or related experience; vocational training preferred.
- Strong mechanical skills and problem-solving abilities for machine setup under tight deadlines.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in noisy, distracting environments. Proficient in using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Attention to detail, safety consciousness, and knowledge of metal fabrication and welding equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, use SPC and understand ISO/TS16949 standards.
- Self-motivated, accountable, with good math and basic writing skills.
- Team player with customer focus and flexibility in scheduling.
- Proficient in operating industrial power lift trucks.

Monday - Thursday, 6am to 4:30pm.
