Job Description

Long Term Sub- 12 Week assignment starting August 31, 2026, anticipated end date November 30, 2026.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

To create a flexible elementary grade program and establish a classroom environment that fosters student learning and growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned grade level/subject following the Massachusetts Department of Education Frameworks using the adopted curriculum.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and good character.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for individualized and small group instruction.
  • Adapt and differentiate instruction to meet each student’s needs.
  • Implement or "adhere to" IEP services goals/objectives.
  • Incorporate technology into the teaching/learning process.
  • Plan and pace lessons to best use available instructional time.
  • Provide lesson plans that allow learning to continue in the teacher’s absence.
  • Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
  • Maintain a positive learning climate through appropriate classroom management.
  • Design an orderly and predictable classroom environment.
  • Collect and interpret formative assessment data to differentiate instruction.
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss progress.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with professional staff to address learning, social, and health problems.
  • Create a safe and effective learning environment with displays and bulletin boards.
  • Pursue professional growth and development.
  • Exhibit a positive role model supporting the mission of the school and district.
  • Administer standardized tests per state and district testing programs.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as requested.
  • Stay informed of and comply with state, city, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file reports and records in a timely manner; check district email at least daily.
  • Attend and participate in faculty, grade level, and district-wide meetings and serve on staff committees as requested.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at the grade level and/or within the department or special area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
  • Massachusetts Educator’s License Elementary 1-6
  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience at the elementary level (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Professional and personal characteristics essential to the role.
  • Successful completion of a CORI background check.
  • SEI Endorsement.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
  • Master’s Degree.
TERMS

This is a 12 week LTS assignment starting August 31, 2026, anticipated end date November 30, 2026. $125 per day.
