Position: One Year- Elementary Classroom Teacher-(Hatherly)-(SY26-27)
* THIS IS A ONE YEAR TEACHER ASSIGNMENT FOR SY26-27.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

To create a flexible elementary grade program and establish a class environment that

fosters student learning and growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each student's ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Teaches assigned grade level/subject reflecting the Massachusetts Department of Educatio

N Frameworks; utilizing the course of study adopted by Scituate Public Schools

* Instructs students in citizenship and good character.

* Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction.

* Adapts the curriculum and differentiates instruction to meet the needs of each student using strategies such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, and cooperative learning structures.

* Implements or "adheres to" IEP services goals/objectives as an integral part of the student's team.

* Incorporates technology into the teaching/learning process to provide all students with an opportunity to succeed.

* Plans and paces lessons appropriately to best utilize the available time for instruction.

* Provides lesson plans which allow the learning process to continue for students in the teacher's absence.

* Sets high expectations for student achievement and behavior.

* Establishes and maintains a positive climate for learning through appropriate classroom management and consistent with the philosophy and best practices of the Open Circle approach.

* Designs an orderly and predictable classroom in which materials and furniture are thoughtfully arranged to foster student independence and model effective organization.

* Collects and interprets formative assessment data in order to differentiate instruction to meet students' learning needs.

* Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.

* Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school program. Responsible for promptly and professionally responding to parent requests for communication.

* Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping to solve learning, social and health problems.

* Creates a safe and effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.

* Proactively seeks opportunities for professional growth and development.

* Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school and district.

* Administers standardized tests in accordance with state and district testing programs.

* Participates in curriculum development programs as requested.

* Keeps informed of and complies with state, city and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

* Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required in a timely fashion. Responsible for checking district email at least daily.

* Attends and participates in faculty, grade level and district wide meetings and serves on staff committees as requested.

* Works collaboratively with colleagues at the grade level and/or within the department or designated special area.

* Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.

QUALIFICATIONS
- REQUIRED:

* Massachusetts Educator's License Elementary 1-6

* A minimum of two years' teaching experience at the elementary level is preferred.

* Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.

* Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.

* Those personal and professional characteristics necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.

* Employment based on successful completion of a CORI background check.

* SEI Endorsement

* Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED:

* Master's Degree
