Position Details

Inly School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Upper School Learning Specialist to join a diverse and collaborative team of professionals to support the social and emotional well-being of our students and families from fourth through eighth grade. The Upper School Learning Specialist will be an integral member of a highly collaborative Learning Services Team and will report to the Director of Learning Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group intervention instruction and reinforcement of foundational skills for students in grades 4 through 8 with a wide range of learning disabilities.
  • Support students in the identification of the strategies and tools that work best for individual student learning styles, supporting students in practicing the consistent application of learned skills to classroom curricula, as well as supporting students in developing an understanding of themselves as learners.
  • In collaboration with our Learning Services Team, create Individual Accommodation Plans for students with diagnosed learning disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers by supporting them in differentiating existing curricula and teaching methods.
  • Administer benchmark assessments related to student needs to monitor student progress and enhance the school’s approach to supporting growth.
  • Review neuropsychological reports and collaborate with the Learning Services Team and classroom teachers to develop and support the implementation of recommendations within individual, small group, and classroom settings.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and the Learning Services Team to identify student needs and develop support plans to address these needs.
  • Observe students in the classroom and collaborate with the Learning Services Team to develop support plans in partnership with teachers, families and division directors.
  • Communicate effectively with families, classroom teachers and the Learning Services Team about student needs and progress.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences for students receiving Learning Services support.
  • Attend weekly Learning Services Team meetings as well as Upper Elementary and Middle School Level Team Meetings.
  • Attend meetings with local public districts for students with active IEPs and/or that are being evaluated by local public districts.
  • Work in collaboration with the Learning Services Team and Teaching Teams in completing documentation for evaluation of students by outside providers.
  • Work collaboratively with our Learning Services Team to provide professional development to faculty and staff to continue professional learning in the areas of teaching students with learning disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with our Learning Services Team to design and deliver parent education workshops.
