POSITION OVERVIEW:

Scituate Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and skilled Girls Tennis Head Coach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and schedule practices and games
• Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement
• Teach and improve student athletes the fundamentals and principles of tennis
• Develop appropriate training programs and practice schedules
• Ensure the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all tennis/athletic equipment and uniforms
• Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of individual athletes and opposing teams
• Plan strategies/game plans for each game
• Provide direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for games
• Call plays and make decisions about strategy and player substitutions during games
• Plan and direct physical conditioning programs that enable athletes to achieve maximum performance
• Instruct athletes on proper techniques, game strategies, sportsmanship, and the rules of tennis
• Keep records of athletes’ and opponents’ performance
• Act as a liaison in relating the tennis program information to the athletics staff, parents and students
• Ensure that medical and safety requirements are adhered to
• Assign duties to assistant coaches under his/her supervision; including pre‑season and practice sessions
• Attend all practices and games and be punctual
• Attend all training and staff meetings, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPR certified or willingness to obtain certification prior to starting position
• Previous coaching experience and participation in a college or high school sports program
