What to Expect

Heron Power is a startup company building cutting‑edge power electronics for the 21st‑century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.

Our first focus goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large‑scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.

We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.

Job Overview

As a Compliance Engineering Technician, you will be the backbone of our compliance lab operations. You will build and maintain test infrastructure, enforce lab quality and safety standards, and lead technician activities — ensuring our lab runs with the precision and discipline that regulatory certification demands.

How You Will Contribute
Lab Infrastructure & Test Fixtures
  • Design, fabricate, and maintain test fixtures, including electrical wiring, soldering, and plumbing work required for power hardware test setups.

  • Own lab layout and infrastructure — plan and execute space requirements, coordinate with contractors for build‑out, utilities, and ongoing facility needs.

  • Procure, organize, and maintain lab consumables and spare parts to ensure uninterrupted test operations.

  • Maintain an organized, well‑labeled inventory of test equipment and test resources at all times.

Test Equipment Operation
  • Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal chambers, data acquisition systems, and related instrumentation.

  • Support compliance test execution — configure equipment per test plans and ensure measurement integrity throughout test campaigns.

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate calibration and maintenance schedules.

Quality Management & Safety
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce ISO 17025 Quality Management System controls across all lab activities.

  • Champion a strong safety culture — enforce discipline, initiate corrective actions, and ensure all personnel adhere to safety protocols without exception.

  • Implement and sustain 5S practices throughout the lab; drive continuous improvement in lab organization and cleanliness.

  • Lead root cause analysis on test failures, equipment anomalies, and process deviations; drive corrective and preventive actions to closure.

Team Leadership
  • Supervise and direct the day‑to‑day activities of lab technicians, providing clear task assignments, hands‑on guidance, and accountability.

  • Mentor technicians on proper procedures, tool usage, safety requirements, and quality standards.

  • Coordinate technician schedules and priorities to align with test campaigns and project timelines.

What You Will Bring

We prioritize candidates who are hands‑on, accountable, and take genuine pride in a well‑run lab. You’re not just maintaining a space — you’re building the foundation that our certification work depends on.

Must‑Have Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent hands‑on training, with a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on work experience in a test lab or manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to fabricate test fixtures, including hands‑on electrical work (wiring, terminations, soldering, panel builds) and plumbing (fluid lines, fittings, pressure systems).

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment used in fixture fabrication and lab builds.

  • Hands‑on experience operating test and measurement equipment: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal chambers, data loggers, and similar instrumentation.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025 or equivalent laboratory quality management system; experience establishing or maintaining QMS controls.

  • Demonstrated…
