Position Summary:
Operator will load, unload, and inspect parts during the machining process. Operator will be responsible for the quality of the parts being produced and for achieving production standards. This position requires de-burring, polishing, and cleaning parts at the machine on some work.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform basic math calculations, including addition and subtraction of decimals.
- Maintain dimensional tolerances between plus/minus 0.0003" to 0.005" or greater.
- Interpret basic dimensions on a print.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.
- Load, unload, and inspect parts being machined while maintaining published PPH.
- Operate a minimum of 1 bar feed lathe, or a mill along with performing secondary operations.
- Maintain accurate part counts, fill out Box Tags, and Job/Quantity Tracker.
- Report and ask supervisor/lead for assistance with any machining problems.
- Follow documented operator procedures such as inspection check sheets and posted operator notes.
- Maintain a clean work area and observe all safety procedures.
- Can execute machine offsets and insert changes with direction of supervisor or lead-person.
- Produce parts with less than 2% scrap rate on a consistent basis.
- Operate a variety of lathes and mills, along with secondary operations with routine supervision.
- Operate a minimum of 2 bar feed lathes simultaneously.
- Operate a variety of CNC lathes and mills with minimal supervision.
- Run multiple jobs dealing with moderately complex parts. Interpret dimensions on a print, read and understand tolerance block, local notes, revision level, etc.
- Operate a variety of CNC machines independently without supervision.
- Interpret all dimensions on a print. Read and interpret all dimensions, local notes, revision levels, surface finish, and calculate non-referenced dimensions.
- Have the ability to operate lathe bar feed machines, some hand load lathes, and most mills.
- Execute machine offsets and insert changes independently without supervision.
- Have the ability to assess tool performance and make changes when appropriate.
- Have the ability to assess job performance and can determine when a job is not running efficiently. Consult with supervisor or technical department on possible improvements that can be implemented.
- Perform some lower level set-up tasks with supervision.
- Other duties as needed.
Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Required:
- Good working knowledge of CNC functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities.
Position
Qualifications:
Education: HS graduate or equivalent.
Experience: 2+ years of prior experience operating CNC machinery required. Experience in manufacturing or manufacturing quality environment preferred.
Work Environment and
Physical Requirements:
Manufacturing environment. Lift up to 50 lbs regularly. Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time. Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer.
