Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
* Provide information to students and families regarding financial aid programs, including eligibility requirements and application processes; interpret and explain the college's financial aid policies and procedures.
* Answer student inquiries about financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress status in accordance with Federal regulations and institutional policies and procedures; provide information to students regarding the appeal process; prepare Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals to committee for review; prepare appeal agreements.
* Educate students about how to navigate their student portal to access financial aid information, student account statement, authorization for release of information, unofficial transcripts, work study/student employment training, etc.
* Explain financial aid payments and related billing charges to students; make reminder calls of balances due and advise students of financial assistance options.
* Provide information to students and supervisors regarding the student employment process; and help determine student eligibility for student employment positions.
* Responsible for the primary use of the electronic imaging system including reviewing, logging and filing documents into the proper workflows and student files for timely processing.
* Maintain accurate and detailed student records in compliance with Federal regulations and institutional policies and procedures relating to data sharing, privacy, and retention requirements.
* Perform a wide variety of general clerical work; file, type, run letters, keep office supplies stocked, schedule student appointments with financial aid staff.
* Complete financial aid verification for third-party student aid providers (ex: housing assistance).
* Contact high school counselors regarding Board of Governors' and Outstanding Leadership Scholarship Nominations; prepare scholarship certificates for award nights.
* Provide financial aid information to students; prepare materials for registration days; plan financial literacy month events.
* Assist with reviewing financial aid forms and notifications on an annual basis to ensure accuracy, identify opportunities for clarity, and to ensure the information matches processes.
* Provide training to Welcome Center student workers to be able to address basic financial aid inquiries.
* Participate in financial aid trainings and workshops.
* Review reports and perform projects as requested.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
Equivalent to an Associates degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration or a related field.
Experience:
One to two years of clerical and technical experience including exposure to the student financial aid function.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC's vehicle insurance.
Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will - The ability to alternate between sitting and standing is present when a worker has the flexibility to choose between sitting or standing as needed when this need cannot be accommodated by scheduled breaks and/or lunch period.
Keyboarding - Entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. Traditional Keyboard refers to a panel of keys used as the primary input device on a computer, typographic machine or 10-Key numeric keypad.
Speaking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing Requirements - The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes or alarms).
