Description Of WorkThis Assistant Director – Panhandle, position is based in Scottsbluff, NE, at the Panhandle Research and Education Center, and focuses on promoting the benefits of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln ( UNL ) to prospective students and their families within the assigned territory. The Assistant Director will travel to the Lincoln campus 2–3 times per year for training and special events. The Assistant Director will supervise a small team of recruitment staff.
The Assistant Director is responsible for creating, implementing, and assessing UNL’s strategic outreach efforts in assigned territory. This position will represent UNL at high school visits, college fairs, community college visits, and other external events. Responsible for interpreting admission, financial aid, and university policy to the general public. This position requires extensive travel, and many nights and weekends during peak times.

MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience in recruitment or related field required.
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills, public speaking experience, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to relate to people of all age groups, academic abilities and cultures necessary.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software essential.
- Must have ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assigned projects on time.
- Ability to learn new technologies required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
- Ability to implement and assess a program or strategy preferred.
- Experience in recruitment at a large public institution helpful.
- Prefer extensive campus involvement as an undergraduate.
- Experience working as a student recruitment ambassador or tour guide in Admissions, Housing, Orientation leader, or an academic college helpful.
- Experience with extensive travel preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
$48,000/yr. minimum
