Overview
Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Adjunct Instructor in HVAC Trades to teach courses that prepare both high school and college students for careers in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. This position plays a vital role in addressing the shortage of skilled HVAC technicians by providing students with both the technical knowledge and hands-on training they need to succeed in the industry.
The instructor will foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment while encouraging students to pursue rewarding careers in the HVAC field.
Teaching HVAC trades courses to dual-credit high school students and WNCC college students.
Preparing and delivering lessons in HVAC principles, equipment, and systems in alignment with industry standards and safety regulations.
Demonstrating proper use of HVAC tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair techniques.
Incorporating both classroom instruction and lab-based, hands-on training to enhance student learning.
Assessing student performance through assignments, projects, and practical evaluations.
Advising students on career opportunities in HVAC and related trades.
Collaborating with WNCC faculty, staff, and industry partners to keep curriculum current with workforce needs.
Maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom and lab environment.
Other duties as assigned by the Division Chair or Academic Affairs.
Licensed HVAC technician or equivalent industry credential.
Minimum of three years of professional work experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, codes, and industry safety standards.
Effective communication skills and ability to work with students from varying backgrounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in lab/shop settings for extended periods.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for demonstrations and lab activities.
Flexible scheduling may include daytime, evening, or occasional weekend instruction depending on program needs.
This is a part-time adjunct position
. Employment is semester-to-semester, with no guaranteed continuation beyond the contracted term.
