Position: Mammographer- Radiology (Hiring Immediately)

Summary GENERAL

SUMMARY:

The Mammographer performs mammography procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the screening and diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.

PRINCIPAL

JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • 1.
    * Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • 2.
    * Performs all types of mammography studies to include screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.
  • 3.
    * Uses sterile technique as required.
  • 4.
    * Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
  • 5.
    * Competently operates all mammography equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, performs and evaluates images for technical quality.
  • 6.
    * Adheres to all state and federal regulatory requirements and accreditation (American College of Radiology) requirements; provides proper documentation for regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • 7.
    * Utilizes department computer systems and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
  • 8.
    * Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
  • 9.
    * Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
  • 10.
    * Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
  • 11.
    * Participates in the departments quality improvement plan as required.
  • 12.
    * Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
  • 13.
    * Keeps area properly supplied.
  • 14.
    * Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of a school of radiologic technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) req
