Founded more than 120 years ago and based in Scottsbluff for this position, with headquarters in Denver and operations throughout Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana, we are a grower-owned agricultural cooperative that produces sugar from locally grown sugar beets. Our industrial operations combine agriculture, manufacturing, storage, and distribution, creating an environment where safety has a direct impact on employees, facilities, and the surrounding communities.

This position will support terminal operations across Nebraska and Colorado.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Coordinate safety and health programs across terminal facilities in Nebraska and Colorado.
Assess current safety systems and lead practical, measurable improvements.
Build a stronger safety culture through hands-on coaching, communication, and accountability.
Implement human-performance and behavior-based safety initiatives.
Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses to identify and eliminate recurring risks.
Maintain regulatory records and support compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local requirements.
Support PSM and chemical-handling compliance where applicable.
Develop and deliver employee and contractor training covering HAZCOM, LOTO, confined-space entry, forklift safety, and facility-specific procedures.
Support new-hire and contractor safety orientations.
Coordinate injury and incident reporting to management and regulatory authorities.
Partner with HR on workers’ compensation, return-to-work, and modified-duty cases.
Maintain emergency-response and crisis-management plans and coordinate drills and tabletop exercises.
Track and report leading and lagging safety indicators, including near misses, first-aid incidents, TRIR, and DART.
Conduct safety audits, facility inspections, monitoring, sampling, and job hazard analyses.
Facilitate terminal Safety Committees and maintain annual Safety and Health Action Plans.
Provide safety input for capital projects and process improvements.
Collaborate with operations leadership, local safety teams, regulatory agencies, and emergency-planning committees.
Travel up to 50% to support terminal locations.

Qualifications Needed:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline preferred; candidates with relevant education and limited field experience may be considered.
Approximately 2–3 years of safety and health experience preferred.
Experience supporting safety programs in manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, warehousing, or another industrial environment.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, or root cause analyses.
Familiarity with safety training programs such as LOTO, HAZCOM, confined space, and forklift safety.
Ability to collect, analyze, and communicate safety-performance metrics.
Willingness to work hands-on with employees in industrial, outdoor, and confined-space environments.
Ability to travel up to 50%.

Preferred:

OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
ASP, CSP, or CSHM certification.
Process Safety Management or chemical-handling experience.
