Description Of WorkAt the UNL Panhandle Research, Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff, NE, we innovate and conduct research to make life better for Nebraska ag producers and rural communities.
As an Agricultural Research Technician I (Part-Time, On-Call), you will:
- Assist with field and laboratory research supporting irrigation and digital agriculture projects
- Conduct field setup and maintenance
- Perform sensor installation and data collection
- Conduct crop and soil sampling
- Take laboratory measurements
- Clean and organize equipment
- Perform data entry and other tasks needed to complete funded project deliverables.
Work may occur outdoors in variable weather and may require occasional early mornings or extended hours.
On-Call positions are hired to work during peak activity periods and may work up to 693 work hours per fiscal year. On-call employees are not eligible for any leave with pay or any other university benefits. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an O/S On-Call Worker.

MinimumRequired Qualifications
- High school diploma plus one year of related paid or unpaid experience.
- Ability to perform outdoor and laboratory work
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driving eligibility requirements.
- Coursework or experience in agriculture, engineering, natural resources, plant or soil science, or a related field
- Experience with field equipment, sensors, data collection, or basic computer applications
$18.55/hr minimum
