The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, ensuring policies and procedures are followed and providing a high‑quality customer experience. They serve as an ambassador for Hibbett I City Gear, helping to acquire and retain customers and promoting merchandise in all departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets and overall operations.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to complete departmental responsibilities and maintain standards.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained and perform general administrative duties as needed.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual.
- Promote and sell Hibbett I City Gear services and merchandise.
- Protect company assets and financial information through effective internal controls.
- Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Conduct interviews, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Resolve employee problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear or athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage a team while meeting overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
