Head Coach Girls Wrestling

Pleasanton Jr Sr High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to help build and lead our Girls Wrestling program as a full-time Head Coach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in wrestling, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. This role involves developing athletes' skills, promoting sportsmanship, and guiding the team to achieve competitive success while emphasizing personal growth and teamwork.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that enhances athletes' physical and mental performance.
• Organize and lead daily practice sessions, ensuring that all athletes receive proper instruction and support.
• Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture that encourages participation and personal development.
• Plan and coordinate the team’s competition schedule, including meets, tournaments, and travel arrangements.
• Collaborate with school administration, athletic department, and parents to promote the wrestling program and its goals.
• Monitor athletes' academic performance and provide guidance to ensure they maintain eligibility.
• Evaluate and assess athletes' skills and progress, providing constructive feedback to facilitate improvement.
• Recruit and develop assistant coaches and support staff to enhance the overall coaching staff.
• Promote safety and well-being by ensuring proper conditioning, injury prevention, and adherence to all safety protocols.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with wrestling techniques, coaching strategies, and best practices in athletics.

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a wrestling coach, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
• Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to reach their full potential.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes teamwork.
• First Aid/CPR certification or the willingness to obtain certification.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends during the wrestling season, including travel for competitions.
• A valid driver’s license and background check clearance are required.
