About

The Role

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of accounting team members, including accounts payable, banking and treasury activities, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and related month-end close processes. The Accounting Supervisor ensures accounting transactions are processed accurately and timely while supporting compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.

The Accounting Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and training to accounting staff while partnering with the Assistant Controller to support financial operations, maintain internal controls, and improve departmental processes.

This is a full-time, salaried position based onsite in Scottsdale, AZ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, banking and treasury activities, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and other assigned accounting functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Review accounting transactions, reconciliations, and reports prepared by staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Supervise and support accounting staff by assigning work, establishing priorities, and monitoring daily performance.
  • Train and onboard new team members and provide ongoing coaching and guidance to ensure consistent performance and adherence to accounting procedures.
  • Review team members' work product and provide timely feedback to support accuracy and professional development.
  • Assist with performance evaluations, employee development plans, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of internal controls designed to safeguard company assets and reduce financial risk.
  • Assist with internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules, gathering documentation, and responding to requests.
  • Identify process inefficiencies or control concerns and elevate recommendations to management.
  • Analyze account activity and financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Accounting Manager and Assistant Controller with financial reporting and account analysis.
  • Collaborate with operational departments to resolve accounting-related issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee information.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
    • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience required.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience leading, training, or supervising accounting staff.
    • Experience with accounts payable, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities required.
    • Healthcare, multi-site, or private equity-backed company experience preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Working knowledge of GAAP, accounting operations, and internal controls.
    • Ability to train, mentor, and support accounting team members.
    • Experience reviewing accounting work for accuracy and completeness.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Annual Salary: $100,000 – $125,000. Final offers based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
