Staff Accountant - Payroll

We are partnering with a growing Scottsdale-based organization seeking a Staff Accountant with a strong foundation in payroll accounting
. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who understands the accounting and reconciliation side of payroll rather than payroll processing itself.

• Record and reconcile payroll-related journal entries.
• Analyze payroll transactions and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.
• Reconcile payroll accounts, liabilities, benefits, taxes, and related balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Support account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit requests.
• Review payroll reports for accounting accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Partner with HR and payroll teams to ensure accurate financial reporting of payroll-related activities.
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Assist with process improvements and ad hoc accounting projects as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 2+ years of accounting experience with significant exposure to payroll accounting.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience working with payroll accruals, payroll taxes, benefits accounting, and payroll-related reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Quick Books required.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
