Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000 annually
Position OverviewA general contractor serving the multifamily housing industry across the western United States is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support project development by delivering accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for prospective projects. This role is responsible for preparing complete project estimates using Sage Timberline Estimating software and supporting projects throughout multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform estimating responsibilities under the direction of the Manager of Preconstruction.
- Enter and maintain all Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and proposals in Sage Timberline Job Setup and Project Management systems.
- Review scopes of work and clarify requirements outlined in initial RFPs.
- Attend bid walks and job site visits as required, documenting conditions and items not clearly identified in RFPs.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and related project expenses using Sage Timberline Estimating. Resolve scope questions through RFIs within Sage Timberline.
- Complete all estimating documentation and correspondence in Timberline Estimating, Project Management, and related databases.
- Develop project schedules in MS Project, including milestones and critical path.
- Prepare project proposals and Schedules of Values using company templates or customer forms.
- Coordinate the transition from preconstruction to project execution by communicating scope, costs, subcontractors/vendors, and timelines to Project Managers.
- Expand subcontractor and vendor resources as part of routine estimating activities.
- Maintain professional communication with customers and follow through on all commitments.
- Provide value engineering options to customers to optimize project outcomes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid mathematical skills, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to analyze technical documents, financial reports, and legal materials.
- Capable of responding effectively to customer inquiries and addressing concerns from regulatory agencies or business partners.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and capacity to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions.
