Construction Healthcare Superintendent

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Compensation: $115,000 – $155,000 Base Salary (commensurate with experience) + Bonus + Vehicle Allowance/Company Vehicle + Comprehensive Benefits

About The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Healthcare Construction Superintendent to lead the field execution of healthcare construction projects throughout the Phoenix metro area. This role is responsible for managing all on‑site construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with healthcare facility requirements.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in healthcare construction, including occupied hospital renovations, medical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers, and other complex healthcare environments where patient care and infection control are critical considerations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all field operations from project startup through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules and coordinate subcontractor activities.
  • Lead daily site operations, safety meetings, and subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, and healthcare regulations.
  • Manage quality control processes and conduct regular site inspections.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Implement and enforce Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) procedures and interim life safety measures when required.
  • Work closely with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, facility staff, and subcontractors.
  • Identify and proactively resolve field issues to minimize schedule impacts.
  • Maintain project documentation, daily reports, look-ahead schedules, and progress updates.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
  • 3+ years of healthcare construction experience.
  • Proven experience managing healthcare renovations and/or ground-up healthcare facilities.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare construction protocols, including infection control and work in occupied environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management technology and scheduling software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Preferred
  • Experience with projects valued at $5M–$100M+.
  • Ground-up hospital or acute care facility experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience with Lean Construction or Last Planner methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
