Assistant Project Manager (APM) - Ground-Up Commercial Construction

About the Role
We are a highly reputable and well-established Commercial Construction General Contractor seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our growing commercial construction team in Phoenix. This individual will support Project Managers in the successful delivery of ground-up commercial construction projects, contributing to scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and client communication. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with ideally 3+ years of relevant experience who is looking to support our Project Management team as an Assistant Project Manager, with the opportunity to grow into a full Project Manager role within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day management of ground-up commercial construction projects
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to ensure timely project execution
- Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
- Participate in project meetings and maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Help ensure compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and contract requirements
- Track project progress and proactively identify and resolve issues
- Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and final documentation
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in commercial construction, with a strong preference for ground-up projects
- Experience supporting projects in municipal and/or office space construction strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of construction processes, project lifecycle, and documentation
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, or similar)
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong willingness to learn and grow
