The Construction Manager plans, coordinates, controls and monitors the day-to-day execution of construction projects in the field. Oversees plant vendor supervisors and construction foremen for multiple, simultaneous capital projects at a plant. Project vendors and contractors may include but are not limited to: engineering service providers, construction contractors, and field support services (e.g., maintenance and modification contractors, design modification validation vendors, engineered equipment commissioning engineers, quality specialists, and safety specialists).
Minimum Requirements- A four year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other job-related field from an accredited college or university AND relevant work experience for Palo Verde—four (4) years of field experience directing construction/modification activities (of which one year experience must be in nuclear).
- In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, combination of college coursework and/or relevant experience (see above) equaling eight (8) years.
- Experience interpreting, evaluating and working with task, milestone and logic driven project schedules.
- Experience in executing various project management and control techniques such as earned value, resource loading, document control, cost reporting and forecasting and critical path scheduling.
- Able to read and interpret construction documents, including specifications and drawings.
- Knowledge of construction standards, OSHA standards and environmental regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, specifically in the field of construction.
- Good computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling, presentations, web-based project portals and document revision and markups).
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
- This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
- These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.
- Assists Project Managers in the planning and preparation of project construction activities including cost estimates, schedules, constructability walkdowns, and daily oversight of the execution of capital projects.
- Monitors and controls construction cost and schedules.
- May coordinate Request for Information (RFI) and change orders with project managers.
- Identifies trends and takes action to avoid cost and schedule overruns.
- Manages resources for project construction to ensure construction team is properly supported.
- Communicates with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth flow of support for the assigned project as required by project management.
- Maintains project team focus on achievement of construction milestones and key project objectives.
- Identifies construction risks and opportunities.
- Develops mitigation measures and manages their resolution.
