SAM Construction Group is a fully integrated Developer/Builder of apartment communities who self-performs several scopes of work, including Concrete, Civil, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical and Roofing.

Position Summary

The Project Superintendent is responsible for overall field leadership on a multifamily apartment construction project, with direct oversight of multiple self-performing superintendents and trade crews. This role ensures work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. The Project Superintendent serves as the primary field authority, coordinating between project management, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for the project.
  • Supervise and coordinate multiple self-performing superintendents responsible for specific scopes (e.g., framing, concrete, interiors).
  • Ensure alignment between self-perform crews and subcontractors to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings with field staff and trade partners.
Scheduling & Production
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the master construction schedule.
  • Work closely with self-performing superintendents to track daily production and adjust sequencing as needed.
  • Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays proactively.
Quality Control
  • Ensure all work meets plans, specifications, and company quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections of self-performed work and subcontractor work.
  • Implement and enforce corrective actions when deficiencies arise.
Safety Management
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate with safety personnel and self-perform teams to conduct regular safety meetings and audits.
Cost Control
  • Monitor labor productivity for self-performed work.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to control costs and minimize waste.
  • Assist in evaluating change orders and field-driven cost impacts.
Communication & Reporting
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all field-related issues.
  • Provide regular updates to Project Management on schedule, manpower, and project progress.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports, logs, and documentation.
Problem Solving
  • Identify field issues early and implement practical solutions.
  • Coordinate with design teams and engineers to resolve conflicts.
  • Support self-performing superintendents in overcoming production challenges.
Qualifications
  • 8-15+ years of construction experience, with significant experience in multifamily projects.
  • Experience with Autodesk Build, Bluebeam or other types of Project Management software.
  • Proven experience supervising multiple superintendents and/or large self-perform crews.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and building systems (wood frame, podium, or concrete preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage schedules and field operations on large-scale projects.
  • OSHA 30 certification (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
