This role is not about teaching. It is about motivation. The most meaningful way to support a student who reached 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that principle troubles you, this is not your role. If it energizes you—because maintaining that standard is how you communicate belief in a student’s capability—then continue reading.
At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI‑driven applications. There are no lectures or textbooks. You will spend half your day facilitating one‑hour workshops focused on life skills: public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. The other half involves meeting students individually or in small groups, analyzing their performance via Coachbot analytics, and driving each one toward 100 % completion of weekly app objectives.
Workshops provide a foundation, but top performers in this position customize them and create new content when needed.
Success in a given quarter means every student in your cohort completes their weekly app targets, passes the Test2
Pass for all life‑skills workshops, and reports a 90 %+ satisfaction rate with you as their mentor. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role has not been fulfilled. During your first year, you will internalize the operational framework; once you demonstrate the ability to uphold expectations, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible, where you mentor new staff while continuing direct work with students.
You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one‑hour life‑skills workshops for K‑8 groups covering public speaking, focus, feedback, and other transferable competencies, modifying existing frameworks and creating new sessions when you identify needs.
- Conducting daily one‑on‑one and small‑group coaching sessions that drive every student toward 100 % completion of weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's reward structures (campus currency, performance rankings), and individual relationships to overcome reluctance.
- Delivering the Test2
Pass (Alpha's competency‑based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students through retakes until mastery is achieved. - Tailoring your approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high engagement and physical activity to eighth graders needing candid conversations and personal accountability.
- Serving as the adult who maintains standards and the adult students trust; building rapport earns you the credibility to challenge, and that challenge signals your confidence in their potential.
- Delivering traditional lessons at a board; academic content is embedded in the applications, not delivered by you.
- Developing curriculum from the ground up; you activate an established framework through presence and narrative skill.
- Passively monitoring students at workstations; the motivational work here is direct, individualized, and persistent.
- Adjusting a weekly target downward to make it achievable; when a student falls behind, the solution is supporting the student, not lowering the standard.
- Assessing assignments, facilitating standardized exam preparation, or handling family outreach;
Campus Leads manage parent engagement, and the other tasks do not exist in this model.
