Position: SPED Instructional Assistant/Personal Care

Schedule: 9 months, 6.75 hours/day (August 3, 2026 – May 27, 2027)

Pay: Grade 16, $16.99/hour

Employment Type: Non‑Interim

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments and materials under teacher direction to support and reinforce objectives.
• Assist medically fragile, physically disabled or developmentally delayed students with personal hygiene (e.g., diapering, tube feeding).
• Communicate with teachers and health‑care professionals to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Document daily activities (behavior, completed assignments, on/off‑task times) for logs and hourly reports.
• Assess situations involving staff, students, parents and the public, and take action or refer for resolution.
• Implement behavioral plans under teacher supervision for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions.
• Maintain manual and electronic files/records for reference and compliance.
• Model appropriate conversation, manners, clean‑up, listening, job skills and everyday interactions to demonstrate social behavior.
• Monitor students’ daily schedules and behavior plans to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Provide instruction under teacher supervision in areas such as math, science, reading, behavioral skills, daily living skills, writing, verbal skills and job skills to implement IEP goals and assist integration.
• Remain with student at all times for safety, remove when necessary and de‑escalate external situations.
• Respond to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.

• Perform other related duties as assigned to support efficient operation of the unit.

• High‑school diploma or GED; high school diploma or equivalent.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

• Adhere to safety practices and prepare accurate records.
• Physical restraint practices as needed.
• Basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios); read manuals, edit documents, present information.
• Understand complex written and oral instructions.
• Schedule activities, collate data, use job‑related equipment.
• Work with diverse individuals, maintain confidentiality, work as part of a team.
• Problem‑solve and create action plans; interpret guidelines independently.

Requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; 50% sitting, 25% walking, 25% standing. Exposure to risk of injury/illness in a clean environment.

Job‑related experience required. High school diploma or equivalent.
